Rev. Joe will lead four virtual “Walk in Love” sessions designed to invite conversation and questions about the history, theology, and “why” of the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement. All at St. Francis are warmly invited to participate. For those seeking to be formally received into the Episcopal Church, these sessions will provide the necessary preparation. On April 26, Bishop Laura Ahrens will visit St. Francis to receive those who have been baptized and confirmed in another denomination and to confirm those who have been baptized.

Here are the dates and topics we’ll be exploring:

  • March 9  History: The Anglican Way of Christianity
  • March 23  Marking Holy Time: The Prayer Book and the Church Calendar
  • April 6  A Wonderful Sacrament
  • April 20  Go in Peace: The Sacred Mystery of the Church and Community

The following two books are recommended for those who want to go deeper:

  • The Ultimate Quest: A Geek’s Guide to the Episcopal Church by The Rev. Jordan Hayne Ware
  • Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs and Practices by Scott Gunn (this is the text our course is based on, but it goes much deeper than what we will explore)
